Global Privacy Summit 2018 – Washington March 27-28

I am delighted to be participating at the Global IAPP Summit 2018 taking place on March 27-28 in Washington DC. I will be interviewing Isabella Falque-Pierrotin on March 27, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EST .  A description of this much anticipated session follows.

In more than six years as president of the French Data Protection Authority (“CNIL”) and four years as Chairwoman of the Article 29 Working Party, Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin has led transformative change and growth of both French and European data protection law. She has issued countless opinions and guidelines, conducted cross-border investigations and enforcement actions against some of the largest companies in the world, and seen data protection authorities emerge as powerful regulators of the digital age. In this session, leading Canadian lawyer Eloïse Gratton interviews the CNIL president about the impending implementation deadline for GDPR, the legislative process on the draft ePrivacy Regulation and the enforcement of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield.

How will the European Data Protection Board (“EDPB”) differ from the Article 29 Working Party? Will enforcement activity focus on U.S.-based multinationals or will European SMEs be affected as well?
