Webinar: Complying with Canada’s Upcoming Breach Notification Requirements (August 29)

I will participate, with Eduard Goodman, Global Privacy Officer for Cyberscout, at a webinar taking place on Tuesday, August 29, at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET on the management of cybersecurity breaches and notification requirements.

The amendments to PIPEDA – through the Digital Privacy Act – will require private-sector organisations doing business in Canada to notify customers if there is a risk of significant harm resulting from a data security breach. We will provide an overview of the upcoming breach notification requirements, discuss how these requirements will impact business operations in Canada (including transborder issues) and provide an overview of the risk for class-action lawsuits following such breaches – including lessons learned from recent settlements. We will also discuss the privacy regulators’ new powers and there will be a Q&A period during which participants can ask their questions.
