Privacy class actions pose threat

Kim Arnott from the Lawyers Weekly published an interested story entitled “Privacy class actions pose threat – Data breach could spur lawsuit (at p. 14) in the latest issue of Forensic Accounting & Fraud, (distributed with The Lawyers Weekly and The Bottom Line). I was interviewed for this article, and I discuss how the growing risk is driving companies to look at prevention. I am seeing increased corporate demand for privacy audits to help identify and limit risks.

In BLG’s 2016 annual report on business risks, we mention that small to mid-size entities are particularly vulnerable because they often lack breach response policies, proper governance tools and employee privacy training programs to prevent or promtply respond to breaches.
